Q : Can I use solar energy for SolarCharger 906 first time charging ?
A :
  • First time charging must use the provided USB cable. This helps improve battery efficiency.

Q : Why can’t I get my SolarCharger 906 to charge from sunlight?
A : There may be a number of reasons:
  • SolarCharger needs to be placed under direct sunlight. Clouds, smog, tinted window or shadows will impede the sunlight from charging the solar panel.
  • SolarCharger battery is totally drained or idle for over approximate 3 months. It needs a USB cable to store up some power before it can charge under the sun again.
  • SolarCharger is exposed to high temperature exceeding 70°C / 158°F. The built-in protection circuit would terminate charging for safety.

Q : How do I know it is using the solar charging ?
A :
  • When under solar charging, the indicator will flash RED.

Q : How long would it take to fully charge SolarCharger under the sun ?
A :
  • It would take around 22 hours to fully charge given optimal sunlight. If the solar panel orientation is not perpendicular to the sun, the effectiveness of solar charging decreases.

Q : Can I charge my device while SolarCharger is under solar charging ?
A :
  • Yes, providing that SolarCharger has at least 40% power on it. Please note that the SolarCharger is actively transferring power to your device, and thus itself would not gain much charge at all. If the drawn out power is so much that it leaves too little for solar charging, the internal battery may not be able to charge up significantly.

Q : Why doesn’t the SolarCharger charge my device even there is some power on it ?
A :
  • Check you have selected the appropriate tip for your device.
  • Check the battery level in the SolarCharger by the battery check button. SolarCharger needs at least 40% power on it to charge an external device

Q : Can I charge my device while SolarCharger is being charged with USB cable ?
A :
  • Sure ! SolarCharger would prioritize sending power to your device first before it charges the internal battery. Once finished supplying to the device, SolarCharger can be fully charged within 3 hours.

Q : Why can’t my phone be fully charged by SolarCharger ?
A : There maybe a number of reasons for this
  • The SolarCharger battery has a finite output capacity. If the cell phone battery demands more than that of SolarCharger, the cell phone would not charge up fully
  • In some cases, even the battery capacity of cell phone is similar to or lower than that of the SolarCharger battery, the charging current and voltage requirements of the cell phone may also impact the power transfer efficiency.

Q : Can I stick a screen protector on top of the SolarCharger for protection purpose ?
A :
  • We do not recommend to put any screen protector on top of SolarCharger. This will decrease the efficiency of the solar panel.

Q : What is the lifespan of the SolarCharger battery ?
A :
  • Just like a typical cell phone battery, SolarCharger uses a lithium ion battery which has a lifespan of approximately 500 full charge-discharge cycles when used with care. Always keep your SolarCharger as fully charged as possible to extend the battery life.
